Reading Tire Size on a Tire Sidewall

1. Tire Type: defines how the tire should be used. For example: "P" means a passenger car tire while "LT" means a light truck tire. 
2. Tire Width: measured in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall. The example tire's width is 215 mm.
3. Aspect Ratio: ratio of the tire's cross-section height to its width. The example shows 60, meaning that the height equals 60% of the tire's width.
4. Construction: shows how the layers of the tire were put together. "R" stands for radial, meaning layers run radially across the tire. "B" stands for bias construction, meaning the layers run diagonally across the tire.
