Both the RAV4 and the Highlander earned best-ever January sales results, with Highlander sales leaping 12.4 percent and RAV4 selling 22,155 vehicles to show a 2.8 percent gain. 4Runner sales increased by 16 percent, and Toyota SUVs overall improved 8 percent for the month.

Toyota Certified Used Vehicles continued to deliver best-ever monthly sales results, as January's performance extended the streak to 17 consecutive months.

Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division, said in a release, “Coming off a record December and year in 2016, the industry in January took a bit of a pause with volume down slightly vs. a year ago. Much improved Light Truck availability helped RAV4 and Highlander begin the year with record January sales.”
